The Vancouver Giants continued their undefeated ways in the pre-season, scoring a 3-2 shootout victory over the Chilliwack Bruins Wednesday night at Prospera Centre. The Bruins jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, paced by first period goals from Colby Kulhanek and Liam Darragh. Mitch Czibere scored his first of two goals on the evening late in period one and added the tying marker at 13:59 of the third period, beating Bruins goalie Matt Esposito between the legs after receiving a nice pass from Mike Piluso.

The story of the game was Matt Esposito. The Bruins keeper looked to be in mid-season form, and he had to be, stopping 40 of 42 Giants shots. Most of the Giants best chances came on the power play, with Espo making a huge cross crease save on Czibere to keep the game tied late.

After a score-less non stop overtime with no whistles, and no shots, the game went to a shootout. Tim Krause drew first blood for the Giants, snapping a shot by Esposito on the glove side. Jadon Potter knotted things up in the second frame with a nice deke on Giants goalie Kraymer Barnstable. After a scoreless third frame, Chris Cloud notched the winner, beating Esposito blocker side. Dylan Chapman had the last chance for the Bruins, but was thwarted on a great pad save by Barnstable.

The Bruins are now 1-1-0-1 this preseason. Next game for the Bruins will be another preseason encounter, this time against the Kamloops Blazers, on Tuesday, September 11. The game will be held at the MSA Arena at 7 pm.
