Prince Albert, Saskatchewan -- The Brandon Wheat Kings made it two wins in two nights Sunday as they travelled to Prince Albert and left town with a 4-2 pre-season victory at the Art Hauser Centre.
Two former AAA midget Wheat Kings provided the offence while veteran netminder Joe Caligiuri turned aside 22 shots including twelve in the first period as Brandon improved its pre-season record to 2-0.
After Sanfred King and Matt Calvert gave the Wheat Kings a 2-0 lead with unanswered first period goals, King restored Brandon's 2-goal lead with his second of the night at the 11:43 mark of the second period. Calvert scored his second of the game in the opening minute of the third period to give Brandon a three goal advantage.
Bryce Lamb and Andy Smith replied for the hometown Raiders, who were 0-3 with the man advantage. Brandon meanwhile was 0-5 on the powerplay.
Because of injury, the Wheat Kings dressed fifteen skaters including 16-year olds Scott Glennie and Paul Ciarelli of Winnipeg.
