The Seattle Thunderbirds needed just seven seconds to score all the offense they would need to defeat the Portland Winter Hawks on Sunday afternoon at the Toyota Center. The T'birds (1-4-0-0) notched two early first period goals and held on for a 2-1 victory over the 'Hawks (1-5-0-0) for their first win of the 2007 pre-season.

Only 2:51 into the contest, Seattle's Lindsay Nielsen put the T'birds on the board first, when he beat Portland's Kurtis Mucha. Then, seven seconds later, Gregg Scott put the T'birds on top for good.

After a scoreless second period, the 'Hawks closed the gap to one goal mid-way through the third period. While on the power play, Portland's Luke Walker beat Seattle net minder Tyler Esau make the score 2-1. But, the 'Hawks come back bid fell just short. Esau finished the night with 17 saves on 18 shots, while Mucha stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced.

Seattle concludes their Tournament run with a record of 1-1. Seattle next takes the ice on Saturday, September 15, when they face-off against the Everett Silvertips. Game time is 7:05 PM. Portland finishes the Tournament with a record of 1-2. They will return to the ice on Saturday, September 15, when they head back to the Toyota Center to face-off against the Tri-City Americans in their final pre-season tune-up.
